Social and Personal Costs and Rewards of Crime
- Indices of Personal and Social Costs and Rewards: (subject-baseline, subject-follow-up, subject-release)
Items with a rating scale that ask about the relative enjoyment
received from conventional activities as well as the perceived impact
of the consequences received as a result of participation in criminal
activity (at subject baseline, subject follow-up, and the release
interview). The release interview focuses on criminal activity both
within the institution and in the subject's neighborhood. At
subject baseline and subject follow-up only, the focus is on criminal
activity in the subject's neighborhood and eight additional
questions address the overall sense of excitement from doing a series
of illegal acts such as vandalism, auto theft, fighting, robbery with
a gun, stealing, and stabbing someone.
